Gerald J. Wojciechowski, Sr., 93, of Daytona Beach, FL, formerly of West Reading and Shillington, PA, passed away Sunday morning, February 2, 2025, after an extended illness, with his loving wife Maureen by his side. Born in Reading, Jerry was a son of the late Stanley E. and Mary C. (Warcozewski) Wojciechowski. He was married for 54 years to his high school sweetheart, Regina M. (Crocona) Wojciechowski, who passed in 2005, and for nine years to Maureen Fullerton Wojciechowski, Daytona Beach.
Family was most important to Jerry, and he adored filling his loving home with six children: Patricia Lewison, Minnesota, Barbara Bulger (Matthew), Hudson, OH, Stanley (Sheryl), St. Petersburg, FL, Jerry Jr., (Alexa) Wyomissing Hills, James (Connie), Ruckersville, VA, Michelle Musseman, Robesonia, and in later years getting to add step son Anthony Konkiel, IV, Pittsburgh, to his family. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Dawn Smith, Jill McIntyre, Nicholas Wojciechowski, Christopher Bulger, Michael Wojciechowski, Jana Conrad, Gregory Bulger, Cara Hart, Carly Wojciechowski, Alex Musseman and Veronica Musseman, 12 great grandchildren and two great-great grandsons.
Also surviving is a brother, Joseph Wojciechowski (Gerry), Riverview Park, and sister-in-law Joan Wojciechowski, Greenfields. In addition to his parents and Gina, Jerry was also predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Eugene.
A proud graduate of St. Mary's Polish Catholic School, and Central Catholic High School, Jerry was the consummate hard worker. While raising his growing family, he joined his father and brothers at the Reading institution Stanley's Tavern in South Reading, serving the area's least expensive, but high-quality food and drink, always taking care of the community. He worked tirelessly there for over 50 years, eventually co-owning the Tavern with his brother Joseph.
Jerry was also a devout parishioner at Sacred Heart Parish, West Reading, serving on a number of committees, including Chairman of the annual Parish Picnic for many years, as a Eucharistic Minister, Choir member and Cantor. When retirement took him to the warmth of Florida, Jerry became equally involved in parish communities there, including Our Lady of Hope Church, Port Orange, FL, where he served as an altar server, lector, eucharistic minister, minister to the sick and homebound, and a member of Outreach and Respect for Life. Jerry was so proud to be a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and a member of the prestigious Color Corps.
Always the giver, one of Jerry's proudest achievements in life was to donate 100 gallons of his blood for those less fortunate.
Funeral Mass with Knight of Columbus honors will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 8:30am. The service can be viewed live at the Our Lady of Hope, Port Orange facebook page. A Memorial Mass is also planned at Sacred Heart Church, West Reading in the future. Maureen's "very best friend" for many years kept pushing the Good Samaritan way of the volunteering spirit of Our Lady of Hope ministries until the very end of 2024.
2025 was a struggle for him, but his Godly way of service to the Catholic church for 83 of his 94 years was quite remarkable. He and Maureen were kindred loving people who found Jesus in every person that they met and helped. May his family find the Peace of Christ after all he did for the world.
