Geraldine "Gerrie" Basinger

Geraldine "Gerrie" Basinger, 96 of Connellsville passed away on Friday January 20, 2023 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. She was born on June 26, 1926 in Connellsville, a daughter of the late Ewing and Ella Pryor Nicholson. Although Mrs. Basinger worked briefly at Troutman's Department Store, she was a homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, sled riding and caring for her family. She also enjoyed making delicious popcorn and was well known as "Popcorn Mamma" at local community events. Mrs. Basinger was protestant by faith. She attended the Indian Head Church of God. She is survived by her children, Larry ( Jill) Basinger, Lesia ( Donald) Cramer; daughter-in-law, Carol Basinger; grandchildren, Scott Basinger and fiancé Kelly Onusko, Tina (Joe) Kosisko, Alysia Cramer, Wesley Cramer, Brock ( Caitlin) Basinger; great grandchildren, Hannah, Cain and Conner Basinger' Hailey and Aidan Kosisko; step grandchildren, Brandon and Allie Show and Cassie ( Sam) Beucher and a step great grandchild, Barrett. In addition, she is survived by three siblings, Ewing Nicholson, Jr., Loretta Biler and LaVaughn Jaynes. Mrs. Basinger was predeceased by her husband of 59 years Glen Basinger; son, Leslie Basinger; sister, Ruth Eicher and brother, Allan Nicholson. The family of Mrs. Basinger would like to give thanks to her many caregivers throughout the years. Their acts of kindness and dedicated care should not go without mention. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to her most recent caregivers, Brennan, Kristin and especially Tiffany, who was also her best friend. Family and friends will be received from 2-8 P.M. Tuesday in the Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville where services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev.
