Geraldine E. "Gerry" Chambers, age 98, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at The Laurels in Coldwater, Michigan, surrounded by family.
She was born at the family farm in Hanover on February 17, 1927, to Emory and Faye Barnhart. She was born alongside her twin brother, Gerald, affectionately known as Pete.
Geraldine shared a devoted marriage with John Chambers, known to everyone as Jack. They were married on November 27, 1946, beginning a partnership that spanned decades and remained a cornerstone of her life. Family was always at the center of her world, a value she carried throughout her life.
Geraldine enjoyed many activities but had a competitive spirit. Whether playing dominoes, cards, or working on puzzles, she played to win and often did. She especially enjoyed dominoes and took pride in her victories, always accompanied by a playful sense of humor that stayed with her through the years.
Geraldine and Jack shared many simple pleasures together, including square dancing, camping, working side by side in the yard, and meeting weekly with lifelong friends to play cards.
She enjoyed gardening and caring for her chickens and took comfort in daily routines. She also loved scrapbooking and creating photo albums, preserving family memories with care. A cold Pepsi and plain M&M;'s were among her favorite treats.
Above all, Geraldine treasured time with her family. She expressed her love in quiet, thoughtful ways and shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Gus, who provided companionship and comfort.
In the last five years of her life, Geraldine was lovingly cared for by Carol and Doug, allowing her to return to the farm life she cherished. Surrounded by gardens, animals, and family, she found comfort and contentment in familiar surroundings.
