Dodgeville – Geraldine Yvonne Hanson, age 84, of Dodgeville, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at her home. Geri was born on February 23, 1941 to George and Charlotte (Pepper) Bruce in Hillsboro. She attended school in Hillsboro until her senior year of high school, when she moved to Evansville and graduated. She then moved to Brodhead with her parents. She worked at the root beer stand for a time before moving to Madison, where she worked for American Family Insurance. Geri loved to dance and met David Hanson at Turner Hall in Madison. They were married on September 8, 1962 at the Evangelical Untied Brethren Church in Brodhead. They had a dairy farm by Blanchardville and farmed the land that became part of Yellowstone Lake. In 1971, they moved to a farm outside of Dodgeville. Geri spent her time raising their three sons and working at the ASCS office in Dodgeville. She had also worked in the Dodgeville School cafeteria and Lands' End. She also had her own bakery and was very busy making cakes for weddings, birthdays and graduations. Geri enjoyed traveling, dancing, working on family history, the Brewers, the Packers and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Charlotte Bruce and her brother, Ronald Bruce. Geri is survived by her husband, David Hanson; her sister, Maxine Denhoff; her children, Gary (Shawn) Hanson, Brian (Sarah) Hanson and Kevin Hanson; her grandchildren, Catherine Hanson, Victoria Hanson, Christopher Hanson, Kate Paynter, Kimberly Hanson, Kayla Hanson, Kameron Hanson, Klydee Hanson and Karyss Hanson; and four great grandchildren. A Private Family service will be held at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Burial will be held in East Side Cemetery.
