Geraldine Grace Ridgley

Geraldine Grace Ridgley, 91, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Coffman Nursing Home.
Born Friday, September 15, 1933, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Richard J. Kretzer and the late Beulah S. (Crider) Kretzer.
Jerry was a graduate of Hagerstown High School, class of 1951, and never missed a class reunion. After graduating she went to work as a telephone operator at C & P, now Verizon. Geraldine and Richard F. Ridgley married November 27, 1953, and celebrated their 71st anniversary November 2024. Jerry was a member of Washington Square UM Church and the Mack Golden Bulldogs. She liked to travel, visiting over 10 countries in Europe, Hawaii, Nova Scotia, and all but 2 states in America. She took several cruises, visited Disney World 3 times and attended the Rose Bowl Parade. She also visited all the Natural Parks, the Northern Rockies and Glaciers in Canada and rode a paddle boat down the Mississippi River. Jerry loved to do puzzles, decorate and enjoying her home.
She is survived by her husband, Richard F. Ridgley; sons, Richard D. Ridgley (Keria) of South Riding, VA, and Rodney N. Ridgley (Shannon) of Leesburg, VA; daughter, Barbara J. Elkins (Steve) of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Christopher R. Elkins (Samantha), Patrick B. Elkins (Natanya), Richard H. Ridgley (Anqi), and Jordan L. Crowley (Wes); great-granddaughters, Christina R. Elkins, Taya F. Haines, and Willow J. Elkins, and great-grandson, Vincent A. Ridgley. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia S. Peters and Geneieve M. Kretzer, and brothers, Seibert G. Kretzer and Harold P. Kretzer.
Services will be held Friday, April 11, 2025, at 11:00 am, at the Washington Square United Methodist Church, 538 Washington Avenue Hagerstown, MD, with the Rev. Rani Woodrow officiating.
Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD, Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
Interment will be at the Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.
