SAVANNAH - Ms. Geraldine Saulsberry, 70 entered eternal rest, Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Memorial Health University Medical Center. Geraldine Saulsberry affectionally know as Gerri was born on May 15, 1954, in Millen, GA. to the late Lindsey Saulsberry and Thelma Saulsberry. She was the youngest of five siblings. Geraldine attended school in both Jenkins and Chatham County. She graduated from Sol C. Johnson and later attended Savannah State University to further her education. Gerri loved to sing and was an active member of the choir during her time at Savannah State. Geraldine accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was later baptized. She chose Prayer Temple Church of God in Christ as her church home, where she served faithfully until her health began to decline.
After graduating from Savannah State Geraldine pursued a career at St. Joseph's hospital, staying true to her passion for helping others. When St. Joseph's and Candler hospitals merged, Geraldine transferred to Candler as a unit clerk. She was a devoted, dependable, friendly, and well-managed employee who was deeply loved and admired by all.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Saulsberry; her father, Lindsey Saulsberry; her brothers, Lindberg and Robert Saulsberry; and her son, Ronald Lamont Ellison.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Allegra LaShawn Ellison of Savannah, GA, two sisters Doris (the late Pastor Alvin) Williams, and Gloria (the late Pastor James) Bynes, all of Guyton, GA. She is survived by her four grandchildren: David Edward (Kenisha) Cross III, Daisha Cross, Diamond Cross, and Rushawnda Kapers. Five Great grandchildren Alexandria Small, Ayden Branch, Avayah Cross, Naomi Cross, and Iylee Saxton. A host of cousins, family and friends.
