Oscar Saulsberry

Oscar Saulsberry, 79, of Ithaca, NY, formerly Detroit, MI, was born on February 1, 1945. He joined our Lord and Savior, and the ancestors on December 7, 2024. He was the son of the late Rev. Thomas Lee and Clara Douglas Saulsberry, Sr. In addition to his parents, Oscar was preceded in death by his siblings, Dr. Henry Sylvester Saulsberry (Delores), Thomas Saulsberry, Jr., Rev. Johnnie Benjamin Saulsberry, Carolyn Jean Saulsberry Boikai and Jacqueline Ann Saulsberry Jones.
A graduate of Western High School, Oscar held a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wayne State University. He was an outstanding educator. Known for his lifelong love of books, Oscar was an avid reader and patron of the arts.
Oscar is survived by his beloved brother, Douglas Roger Saulsberry (Dyrene Ouley), Goddaughter, Rachel Felix, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Saulsberry, Gloria Saulsberry, and brother-in-law, Alfred Jones, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Oscar was a loyal and devoted friend to many, including special friends, Dr. Benn Gilmore, Dr. Glenn Hatcher, Eulas Boyd, Garth Fagan, Barry Derfel, Millicent Clarke Maynard, and Meghan Austin. He will be dearly missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
