Geraldine Cullen Stokes, 87, entered into rest Saturday, November 8, 2025. She was born in Sardis to the late Wyatt Arthur and Ida Lee Chance Cullen. She was a member of Sardis Methodist Church. Geraldine loved to help her husband, Leon, with the little league baseball teams that he coached. She enjoyed life to the fullest and enjoyed singing, acting, and entertaining. Geraldine was a true Christian woman, always reaching out and helping those in need. She would visit the nursing homes, making sure to stop by each room. She was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Stokes; three brothers, Wyatt Cullen, Jr., Billy Cullen, and Thomas Cullen; seven sisters, Gladys Scott, Lucille Reddick, Marie Munns, Juanita Elliott, Francis DeLaigle, Jackie Boyles, and Bernice Reid.
She is survived by two sons, Alan Stokes of Sardis and Jeff Stokes (Marcia) of Sarasota, FL; seven grandchildren, Amy Cicero (Josh) of Cummings, GA, Simon Stokes of Sarasota, Shane Stokes of Sarasota, Sebastian Stokes of Sarasota, Shannan Stokes of Sarasota, Adam Johnson of Jasper, GA, and Cari Alewel of Jacksonville, FL; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Bennett of Sardis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Thursday, November 13 at Sardis Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Sirmons and Rev. Sonny Moon officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to the Sardis Methodist Church.
