Geraldine Compton Ward, 82, wife of Henry McArthur (Mac) Ward passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at her home.
Born February 8, 1944, in Wilmington, NC. She was A daughter of the late Gladys Byrd Compton and Arthur James Compton. Mrs. Ward was a member of Westside Baptist Church.
She was known for her dedication to her church and her good cooking. She loved to fish and she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and her great granddaughters.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years; three sons, Steve Ward (Renee), Johnny Ward (Kay), and Mike Ward (Balinda); six grandchildren, Aaron, Andrew, Morgan (Ashton), Peyton (Andrea), Cheyenne (Austin), and Brittany; three great-granddaughters, Millie, Sadie Mae and Huntlee; a sister, Elizabeth Hair and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, James Compton, and a sister Frances Compton.
Graveside Services will be held at 3 PM Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Ward Cemetery with the Rev. Danny Settle officiating.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Aaron, Andrew, Morgan, Peyton, Austin Amerson, and a nephew, Rory Hair.
Family will receive friends prior to the service and following at the graveside and other times at the home.
Memorial may be made to Westside Baptist Church, 554 Pinewood Road, Sumter, SC 29154 or to Amedisys Hospice, 198 E. Wesmark Blvd Suite 2, Sumter, SC 29150.
The Family would like to thank the Amedisys Hospice staff for such good care and especially Sharon for the compassion she gave.
