Newmarket - Gerard Gagne, 70, of Grant Road died peacefully May 16, 2022 at Exeter Center.
Born on July 30, 1951 in Rochester, he was the son of Bernard P. Gagne and Lily (Baillargeon) Gagne. He lived and was educated in Newmarket at St. Mary's School and Newmarket High School. Then he enlisted in 1970 and served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War; stationed at McGuire Air Force Base, NJ and Osan, Air Base, Korea. Later he entered and successfully completed the apprentice program at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and worked as a Journeyman pipefitter; Code 365 Work Control technician, retiring after 37 years of government service as a Nuclear Production Planner.
Gerard was a member of the American Legion, Post 67 in Newmarket. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf with his friends many years as a member of the Rockingham Country Club. He also enjoyed music and was an excellent self taught guitarist. He was a Parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newmarket. Gerard enjoyed and loved many things in his live, especially his close friends.
Gerard was predeceased by his grandson, Declan Carll.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Catherine; children Sarah Carll and Ryan Carll; a brother, Bernard Gagne and his wife Joyce; nieces and nephews, Donna, Rick, Jamie and Matt; grandchildren, Kaylee, Autumn, Ryan, Gavyn and Liam; and a great granddaughter Stella.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, May 22 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter Road (Route 108), Newmarket. An American Legion service will take place at 6:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 182 Main Street, Newmarket. Burial with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.
Memorial donations may be made to the Jack Pazdon Memorial Fund.
