Gerardo Almendarez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rudy Garza Funeral Home - Harlingen on Feb. 24, 2026.
Gerardo "Gary" Almendarez, 59, entered into eternal rest on February 19, 2026, in Denton.

Gary was employed with Pinnacle Propane in Denton, Texas, where he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his work. He had a deep passion for his job and took great pride in the company he served. Always thinking of ways to improve and contribute, Gary never hesitated to share new ideas with his supervisor. His strong work ethic, loyalty, and enthusiasm made a lasting impression on his coworkers and leadership alike. He truly loved what he did and the people he worked alongside.

Known for his warm personality, Gary was a natural jokester who often laughed at his own jokes, bringing smiles to those around him. His unmistakable and "unique laugh" became one of his most cherished trademarks. He enjoyed collecting firearms, fishing, and sharing good spirits with friends and family. A devoted sports fan, he faithfully cheered for the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys.

Above all, Gary loved his family deeply. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who treasured every moment spent with his loved ones. His greatest joy was his family, and his legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will live on through them.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Gloria Almendarez of Denton, Texas; his three children, Gerardo "Gary" Almendarez, Jr. (Vanessa) of Harlingen, Texas; Debra Lynn Almendarez of Denton, Texas; and Allyson Nicole Almendarez of Denton, Texas; and his five cherished grandchildren, Jarek Maison Almendarez, Velanie Giselle Almendarez, Gianna Grace Almendarez, Vivienne Grey Almendarez, and Gracelyn Victoria Almendarez of Harlingen, Texas.

He is also survived by his father- and mother-in-law, Jose Angel Montez and Anna Montez; his three siblings, Veronica Alexander of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Lorenzo Almendarez, Jr., and Antonio Almendarez of Harlingen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the Rudy Garza Funeral Home. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Thursday, February 27, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ashland Memorial Park Cemetery under the auspices of American Legion Post 205 and VFW Post 2410.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jarek Almendarez, Jeremy Rosales, Robert Araiza, Tristan Espinoza, Gabriel Benavides, and Sam Cisneros.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Pinnacle Propane for being such a meaningful and supportive workplace for their beloved husband and father.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen, Texas.

Gary will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his laughter, dedication, and the immense love he gave so freely to all who knew him.
