Geri Billington

Sara Geraldine McKenzie was born April 10, 1933 in Ely, Nevada to Vance and Sara McKenzie. She was called Geri all of her life. She was the first born and had four siblings: Phyllis, Rod, Donald and Ken. She grew up in Lund, Nevada on the family dairy farm. Growing up she had great friends and was involved in many school activities. She especially loved riding horses and spending time outside with her dad on the farm. After high school, she married Robert (Bob) Oxborrow who also grew up in Lund. He ran his family dairy farm with his father. They had 8 children while living in Lund, then moved to Orem, Utah. They lived there for 5 years and Steven was born. They then returned to Lund where their 10th child, Nicole, was born. In Lund Bob began teaching elementary school and continued farming. Geri was a very busy person, always working and serving her large family. She was good at cooking, raising large gardens, maintaining beautiful landscapes and keeping a very clean house. She loved hosting many extended family members and friends. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings over the years. After her kids were older, she began working for the White Pine County School District and loved teaching some special kids. Geri and Bob served a mission to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. After returning, they moved from Lund to Mapleton, Utah to be close to all their kids and grandkids. Bob and Geri celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Lund. Her husband Bob died in a car accident along with their daughter Sally and Aunt Edith in 2002. Geri later moved to St. George, Utah and married Merrill Roper, where she again found joy in her life. When Merrill died 8 years later, she moved to Orem, Utah. There, she met Harvey Billington and has been married to him for 8 years. He has been a great blessing as they have taken care of each other. Geri has a posterity of 10 children, 34 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren. One of her last intact memories was to name all of her children in order: Bobbie, Sally, Eric, Gerald, Michael, David, Margaret, Ken, Steven and Nicole. Gerald, Sally and Michael previously passed away. She joined them and other loved ones on March 3, 2026.
