Germaine A Maiorana

Germaine Maiorana (née Theunssens), 87, of Medina, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

Born in Belgium, Germaine later moved to South Africa, where she met and married the love of her life, Lucio Maiorana, before the couple eventually settled in the United States. During their 47-year marriage, they shared a love of travel, visiting family and friends across the world, and treasured time spent with their children and grandchildren. In retirement, they especially enjoyed dividing their time between Ohio and South Carolina.

Germaine will be fondly remembered for her delicious home cooking and baking, her green thumb and love of flowers, and the many beautiful items she crocheted, knitted, and sewed over the years. Above all, she will be remembered for her love for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons, Renato (Judy) and Paolo Maiorana; grandchildren, Danielle, Tony (Megan – deceased), Olivia, and Marco Maiorana; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Carly; her brother, Freddy Theunssens; and many nieces and nephews. Germaine also leaves behind cherished relatives and friends overseas in Belgium, Italy, South Africa and in Ohio and South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lucio; her parents, Jozef and Justina Theunssens, her brother, Willy Theunssens, and her sister, Elza Augustyn.

In accordance with her wishes, private family services will be held at a later date.
