Gerrald "Gary" Sleep, 74, of Topeka, passed away Friday, January 23, 2026, at Midland Hospice House.
He was born January 1, 1952, in Saint Johnsbury, Vermont, the son of Lemuel and Irene (Tibbits) Sleep.
Over the years Gary was employed by Allis-Chalmers, Amarr Garage Doors of Lawrence, Capital Insulation and Smucker’s.
Gary Loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, Eagles and Jack Daniels. His favorite soda was R. C. Cola. His beloved dog Maggie was his favorite constant companion.
Survivors include his daughter, Laura Lee Sleep; three grandchildren, Ashley (Chad) Barfoot, Marcus Jay Sleep and Trenton Sleep; four great-grandchildren; two brothers; Jim (Deloris) Sleep and Mike (Diane) Sleep; three sisters, Debbie (Dave) Davidson, Barb (Scooter) Bradley and Sue (Bruce) Arbuthnot; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Sleep; his parents; and his siblings, Sherry Brown, Flori Moore, Bob Sleep and Lemuel Sleep II.
Gerrald was cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 15th, 2026, in shelter house #6 at Lake Shawnee.
