It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gerron Teague Akeam Mayers, who passed away peacefully on June 28, 2024, at the age of 34. Born on February 11, 1990, in the twin island nation of Trinidad and Tobago, Gerron was a proud resident of Columbus, Ohio, for the past 23 years.
Gerron had a passion for cooking, landscaping, and stylish dressing, all of which brought joy to his family and friends. His love for culinary arts, his skill in creating beautiful landscapes, and his impeccable sense of style were reflections of his warm and generous spirit.
Gerron shared a deep and spiritual bond with his mother, Brenda Mitchell Mayers. They found solace and strength in their daily prayers together, a sacred time that brought them closer and provided a foundation of love and faith in their lives. For 23 years, Gerron was a cherished part of the lives of Dave and Lenore, who were heavily involved in his life. Lenore was like a second mother to him, and he valued her opinions deeply.
Their family was characterized by strong togetherness, enjoying frequent gatherings, "limes," prayer services, and much more. These moments created a home filled with warmth, love, and mutual respect.
He is lovingly remembered by his parents, David Mayers and Brenda Mitchell Mayers; siblings, Camille, Averson, Enike', and Farron Mayers. Gerron was the devoted father of Gerron Akeam Mayers Jr. and cherished grandson of the late Knolly Mitchell, Shelia Cooper, Beresford, and Irma Mayers. He is also remembered by his ex-wife and mother of his son, Tametra Harris. Gerron was also a beloved uncle to Aziza, Omarion, Kerisha, Alexa, Tristan, Aiden, and Madison. He was a dear nephew to Carl and Curtis Mitchell, Kevin Dennis, and Gwendolyn, Esther, Agatha, and Lilian Mayers, as well as Debra, Gemma, and Kerlene Cooper. His cousins from the Mitchell, Mayers, and Cooper families will forever remember him fondly. He shared a close bond with his best friends, Shain Wright and Collin Alleyne, who stood by him through all of life's moments.
Gerron's kind heart, loving nature, culinary talents, landscaping skills, and sense of style will be missed by all who knew him.
