Gerry Calame Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Oct. 1, 2025.
Gerry Ann Calame, age 85, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on September 1, 2025, at her home in Springfield, Missouri. She was born to Arthur and Geraldine Reeves on July 12, 1940 in Harrison, Arkansas. Gerry was united in marriage to Harleigh Calame on October 7, 1961 in Wichita, Kansas.
Gerry was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Reeves; mother, Geraldine Reeves; and brother, Arthur Reeves. She is survived by her spouse, Harleigh Calame; son, David Calame; son, John Calame (wife Rose); daughter, Michelle Foltz (husband Brad); grandson, Beau Calame; granddaughters, Elizabeth Cooper, Rebecca Metzler and Christina Shafer; great-grandson, Zebediah Cooper; and great-granddaughter, Lucy Cooper.
Gerry served as an Air Force wife for 28 years while raising her three children and fostering others. Wherever the assignments took the family, Gerry was always involved with the local church's children's ministries, music and choir. She played several instruments including piano, organ, and her favorite: the accordion. She loved to sing and relished belonging to her church choir. While attending Central Bible Institution she sang with the Revivaltime Choir. Her home was always open to guests for whom she loved to cook. Her meatloaf and chicken noodle recipes were most often requested. After retirement, Gerry became a volunteer with her husband and traveled with RV MAPS of the Assemblies of God. Their missionary efforts had them working at various church youth camps as well as college campuses. Spending time as volunteers at Evangel University led them to decide to settle in Springfield.
Gerry set a Christian example with a life set on service to others. She readily volunteered where needed, but her family was her utmost priority. Teaching her children to love Jesus and to lead lives of service has resulted in a family who truly demonstrates the love exemplified by their mother. Gerry will be missed by those who knew her, but her legacy will live on through the Christian values of her family.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 7, 2025, 2:00-4:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. The burial will be Tuesday, September 9, 1:00 pm, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri. Services are provided by Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
