In Loving Memory of Marvin Ray Moss

June 24, 1969 – March 14, 2026

Marvin Ray Moss, 56, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025 in Springfield, Missouri. He was a man who appreciated the quiet side of life, though he always had a deep-seated need for speed.

Born in Springfield, Missouri, Marvin grew up with a natural curiosity for the world around him. In his youth, he was a proud Boy Scout, a time where he developed a deep-rooted love for the outdoors. Those early years spent camping and learning the ways of the woods stayed with him throughout his life; he always felt most at home under a canopy of trees, by a crackling fire, or tending to his garden.

As he grew older, his appreciation for nature was matched by the raw power of a classic engine. He had a lifelong passion for American muscle cars. He was never happier than when he was talking about or working on a 1971 Chevy Chevelle SS, finding a unique kind of peace in the roar of an engine and the freedom of the open road.

Marvin didn't need a crowded room to feel complete. A man of quiet strength, he possessed a rare and patient heart. He had a natural affinity toward his elders, always offering a listening ear or helping hand to those who had walked the path before him.

He is survived by his wife Shalia (nee Swisher); his parents, Marvin and Catherine; his sister, Amanda (Steve); and a large, loving family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Though life's journey kept them apart, Marvin held a quiet, enduring love for his children, Brittanie (daughter), Blake (son), Kileigh (daughter) and granddaughter, MaKenna, always carrying them in his thoughts, holding them in his heart even from a distance.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Beulah Moss and Charlie and Marcie Mowery.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In honor of Marvin's memory, the family asks that you crank up the radio and take a drive on a backroad or enjoy a quiet moment in nature.
