Gertrud “Gertie” (Reich) Montulli, 61, of Waterport, NY, formerly of Rochester, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025 following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born September 26, 1964, she was the daughter of Karl-Heinz Reich, Sr. and Trudy (Scheithauer) Reich. Gertie was a graduate of Gates Chili High School, Class of 1982. Her passion for cooking led her to earn a degree from the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute. Gertie was known for her friendly, bubbly and outgoing personality. She was a phenomenal cook and loved to bake cakes for friends and family. Gertie was very creative and loved to do art and crafts and started her own popcorn company, Gertie’s Gourmet Popcorn. A giving soul, Gertie took great pride in volunteering. Whether for the food pantries, charity fundraisers for hospice, 4-H, the American Legion or just a family in need, Gertie was always there to lend a helping hand. She and her friend Michelle loved putting on a Christmas event at the Arnold Gregory building, where they gave away toys to kids in need. Gertie said at the end “I will make the rest of my life the best of my life.”, which she did indeed.
She is predeceased by her first husband, Donato “Dan” Albano; father, Karl-Heinz Reich, Sr.; brother, Karl-Heinz “Sonny” Reich, Jr.; and sister, Erika (Michael) Sheremeta.
Gertie is survived by her mother, Trudy Reich; daughter, Casey (Peter Horan) Albano; sister, Bettina (Michael) Kalish; nieces and nephew, Sarah (Christopher) Gajewski, Tanya Sheremeta (Jonathan Peters) and Kyle Kalish; best friend, Michelle Wiseman; stepsons, Daniel (Danielle) Albano and Todd Albano; several step-grandchildren; and husband, Anthony Montulli.
Family and friends are invited to attend her memorial service on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 11:00am at the New Hope Community Church (First Baptist Church), 203 W. Center St., Medina. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gertie’s memory may be made to any local food pantry.
