Gertrude Bise passed away on December 2, 2024, peacefully surrounded by family. She has rejoined her husband, sister, brother and parents to watch over all of us.
She was born and grew up in Austria. At the end of World War II she traveled to Salzburg, went to work in the library on an American army base, met and married her beloved husband, James Bise.
With the military, the family traveled and lived in many places such as Austria, Germany, Panama Canal Zone, Kansas, Georgia and finally settled in Concord California.
She loved and was loved dearly by her 3 Children and their spouses (Peggy, Ernie, Maria, Jim and Jeanette), 5 Grandchildren (Donna, Debbie, Alex, Christopher and James) and 9 Great Grandchildren (Orion, Matthew, Jessica, Kayleigh, Kirsten, Rene, Freddy, Arora and Nico).
Gertrude enjoyed traveling, wining and dining, cooking and baking up to her final days. She loved to sit in the sunshine and take care of her roses. She enjoyed her chocolate, grapes and of course shopping at Macy's.
She taught us by example to always be strong. She led the family when her husband was stationed in Vietnam, Thailand and after he passed away in 1969.
She showed all of us how to be compassionate and caring just as she always was. She loved with all her heart and had the most beautiful smile for you, no matter the circumstances.
Her joyfulness was contagious and with her rosy cheeks and cute accent, everyone who met her fell in love with her immediately.
Gertrude was one of God's Angels. He allowed us to borrow her for over 99 years and now she is back home with God, may she rest in peace.
