Gertrude Corey

Gertrude L. "Trudy" Corey, age 80, of Erie, passed away Friday, December 5, 2025. She was born in Erie on February 6, 1945, daughter of the late Donald and Grace Pianta Crannell.

Trudy was a 1963 graduate of Wesleyville High School and a 1967 graduate of Villa Maria College. She then earned a dual Master's Degree from Edinboro University. Trudy first worked for two years at St. Patrick's School, three years at Lawrence Park Elementary, and then worked at other various places while raising her family. After her children were raised, she worked for the Erie School District at Pfeiffer Burleigh, Burton and Emerson Gridley, finishing her career at St. James School as a reading and math specialist. Trudy enjoyed traveling, attending the Erie Playhouse and collecting Depression glass. She especially treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Trudy is survived by five children, Don Corey, Jr. (Ruby), Joe Corey, Patty Corey, Robert Corey (Megan) and Steven Corey; one sister, Patricia Nolan; four grandchildren, Sylvia, Grace, Hudson and Levi; two great-grandchildren, Maddox and Aubrey; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Don Corey, Sr.; one grandson, Joseph Corey; one brother, Donald Crannell; and three sisters, Donna Kilbane, Alma Creese and Margaret Hemme.

Friends will be received at the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Friday, December 12th, from 4 pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 7 pm. A private interment will be held at Mary, Queen of Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Michael J.
