Gertrude Carolyn Myers, 85, formerly of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 16, 2025, at the Blair Ridge Health Campus, Peru, Indiana. She was born in Oberlin, Kansas, February 13, 1940, the daughter of Carl A. and Olga Elizabeth Olson Anderson. Gert married James Williams Myers on September 9, 1960 and he preceded her in death on December 5, 1997. Gert was a 1957 graduate of Oberlin High School, and she attended Kansas University, St. Mary of the Woods College, and Akron General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse and retired from the Richland County Health Department. Following her retirement, she became a volunteer with the Hospice of North Central Ohio and dedicated nearly 2 decades of service first helping to create the organization and the building to operate out of, then giving of her time and efforts volunteering at the What Goes 'Round Thrift Shoppe. Gert valued most her family and she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She loved traveling and sailing. Surviving are her sons David Myers and his wife Beth of London, England, and their children Quentin Myers, Lachlan Myers, and Zoe Myers; and her son Doug Myers, her daughter-in-law Laura Myers, and their children Megan Myers, Tara Myers, and Dylan Myers. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, and her siblings Elden Anderson and Gordon Anderson. By the family's request, there will be no services. Burial will occur at the Mansfield Memorial Gardens, Ontario, Ohio, at a later date.
