In Loving Memory of William Perry "Bill" Hammond Jr.
It's with great sadness that we share the passing of our dear brother and cousin, William Perry "Bill" Hammond Jr. Bill lost his battle with leukemia early Monday morning, October 13, 2025, at the University of Chicago Hospital.
Bill was our Big Brother - and just the day before, on Sunday, each of us had the chance to talk with him. He was in good spirits, hopeful about a new treatment, and as always, thinking positively. Sadly, his heart gave out early Monday morning, leaving all of us heartbroken.
Bill was brilliant - our family always thought of him as a true genius. He graduated from the University of Kansas and earned his master's from the University of Texas at Austin. He worked for many years in our family business, Hammond Litho, before starting his own company, Hammond Graphics, where he worked until he retired. He was a creative soul - a graphic artist, an art historian, a wise investor and a real renaissance man. Bill loved art, ideas, and family. He also loved talking about his favorite movies and TV shows - he could turn any casual conversation into a fun deep dive into film or pop culture trivia. He was "Uncle Bill" to his nieces and nephews, and nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his ever-growing family.
