JANE MARIE (Borkowski) MARMET, born July 14, 1946 in Buffalo, NY, died October 14, 2025 in Glenview, IL. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, G. John Marmet, and their three sons: G. John (married to Lisa) of Milwaukee, WI, Philip S. (married to Margaret) of Evanston, IL, and Thomas J. (married to Elizabeth) of Madison, WI, as well as four grandchildren: Natalie, Reid, Ruby, and Valarie.
A graduate of Villa Maria Academy in Buffalo, NY, Jane received her B.S. in Microbiology from University of Buffalo, her M.S. in Microbiology from Northwestern University, and earned her certification as a Medical Technologist from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. She was formerly employed by the Food & Drug Administration, and served as a clinical microbiologist at Lutheran General Hospital. After her retirement she assisted her husband in his law practice, being the friendly, empathetic face his clients remembered most. She devoted her life to her children, her husband, and to others, serving the various churches she attended in the choir, Sunday school, pre marriage instruction, and Women's Guilds and Associations projects. She loved gardening, creating a yard much admired by neighbors. She served her sons as a Cub Scout Den Leader and Boy Scout Assistant Scoutmaster in Glenview, serving also as merit badge counselor and religious medal counselor for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, and being awarded Scouting's District Award of Merit. She served orphaned Golden Retrievers through As Good as Gold as an adoptive parent, as a foster parent, and as a dog sitter for AGAG members. She served Glenview as a long tenured volunteer in the Genealogy room of Glenview Public Library. Further she joined her Rotarian husband as a Paul Harris Fellow and a Major Donor to the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.
She will be remembered in a service at Glenview Community Church (UCC) at 1000 Elm Street in Glenview, IL, on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 2 PM.
