Dahn & Woodhouse Funeral Home - Coon RapidsGertrude “Trudy” LaVonne Colbert, age 94, of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, IA.
A public graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Willow Township Cemetery in rural Coon Rapids with military honors from the Coon Rapids American Legion and Offutt Air Force Honor Guard.

Gertrude was born on February 27, 1931 in Coon Rapids, IA, and she was the daughter of E. Noble and Kathryn (Jacobsen) Long. She grew up in Coon Rapids and graduated from the Coon Rapids High School with the Class of 1948. Following high school, Trudy as she was known to most, enlisted in the United States Air Force on March 29, 1950 and served during the Korean War. Following her discharge on December 20, 1950 she moved back to Coon Rapids. On August 29, 1958 she was united in marriage to Jim “Gunner” Colbert at the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, bird watching, and watching football with Iowa State and the Kansas City Chiefs being her favorites. Most of all she cherished the time spent with her family.
Trudy is survived by her son Douglas Stottlemyre of Kansas City, MO; two daughters, Valerie Hasenyager of Kansas City, MO, and Diane Stottlemyre of Coon Rapids, IA; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sister-in-law Kay Colbert of Bayard, IA; brother-in-law Jerry Colbert (Karen) of Coon Rapids, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Trudy is preceded in death by her husband Jim “Gunner” Colbert; her parents, E. Noble and Kathryn Long; her parents-in-law: Jess and Verna Colbert; son-in-law Charles Hasenyager; sister Mary Bonney (Ted); sister-in-law Janice Kraft (Eldon); brother-in-law Jack Colbert.
