Gerturde was born February 15, 1936 in Flat Rock, AL to parents, William Upton and Hester Mae Shrader Powell. She was a 1953 graduate of Pisgah High School and had worked at both Peerless Woolen Mills and 3M Ceramic Division. She was a member of Kennemer Baptist Church and and had served as Church Treasure since 1961. She was a member of the NSM Eastern Star.
Survivors include son, Jerry Wells(Cynthia), sisters, Ruby Lee Gray, Marie Simpson, grandchildren, Angie Patton(Steve), Brandon Whitley(Jennifer), Clay Whitley, along with several great-grandchildren, She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond Wells, daughter, Tammy Renee Wells, brothers, Bruce Powell and William Powell Jr. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Gertrude, please visit our floral store.
