Gertrue Virginia "Pearl Lee" Dawson

Gertrue Virginia (Lee) "Pearl" Dawson 86, of Huntington, WV transitioned eternally on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill, SC. She was born on November 25, 1939, in Danville, Virginia to the late John Thomas Lee and Bertha Virginia (Timbrook) Lee. Her family relocated to Huntington, WV when she was a little girl. She attended St. Peter Claver Catholic School and attended St. Joseph High School where she graduated. After graduation, she attended Cabell Huntington School of Nursing and achieved her nursing degree. She worked at Cabell Huntington Hospital for a short period of time and then moved on to HIMG as an LPN for over 30 years, retiring in 2007.

Pearl was a dedicated member of St Peter Claver Catholic Church for over seven decades. She was a member of the church choir, Red Hat Lady's Club and the Quilting Club, a dedicated volunteer at church functions and often helped others by offering rides and running errands when she could.

Pearl loved her family very much. She was preceded in death by her husband James Dawson Sr. She will be forever cherished by her loving family, son James Dawson Jr. of Huntington, WV; daughters Janice Dawson Bristow(Timothy) of Fort Mill, SC; Virginia Lynn Johnson(James) of Lexington, KY; Lisa Dawson of Lexington, KY; grandchildren Zuri Johnson of Chengdu-Sichuan, China; Jaylin, Maya, and Quincy Johnson of Lexington, KY; Bryce Clark of Huntington, WV; great-grandchildren Vivian Johnson; Amora Clark and soon to be Little Bean; sister-in-law Juanita Wilson and brother-in law Archie Dawson(Joann) of Columbus, OH; sister-in-law Eleanor Dawson of Huntington, WV ; her little dog companion chihuahua-Lady(Bug) Dawson and hosts of nieces, nephews, special friends Glenna Sheffield, Thelma Scott, Gloria Spiller and other loved ones she adored.

Funeral Service will be conducted at 12:00 P.M, Friday, December 12, 2025 at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, Huntington,WV with Father Livinus Uba officiating. Visitation will be conducted from 11:00 A.M to 12:00 P.M, Friday, December 12, 2025 at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church.Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Huntington, WV.
