Gilbert Andrews Obituary

Gilbert H. Andrews
Gilbert H. Andrews, 84, of East Hartford, loving husband of 49 years to Mary (Gilmister) Andrews, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026. He was born on October 22, 1941, in Hartford, son to the late Willard and Adelaide (McKinney) Andrews.
Gil grew up in Glastonbury and graduated from Glastonbury High School. He enjoyed a long and successful career in industrial manufacturing. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Gil actively participated in softball, horseshoes, golf, and bowling, continuing to bowl regularly until August of last year. He was also a devoted sports fan who especially loved cheering on his children and grandson at their own athletic events, taking great pride in watching them play. Gil treasured time spent playing games with his family and was always willing to help with any project that needed doing. A firm believer that anything could be fixed with enough effort, and that no piece of scrap wood should ever be discarded, he was known for his determination, generosity, and practical wisdom. Gil was kind, caring, deeply devoted to his family, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, Gil is survived by his children, Paul Andrews and his wife Jolene of Marlborough, Karolyn Andrews of Manchester, and Bill Andrews of Goshen; his two grandchildren, Colin Reilly and Alicia Andrews; his sister, Louise Macca of East Hartford; his brothers, Gary Andrews of Norwalk and David Andrews and his wife Brenda of Hebron; as well as his nephews and the Paulus Family. Gil was predeceased by his parents; his son, Gil Andrews; as well as his in-laws, Sebastian Macca and Leslie Andrews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 7, 2026, beginning at 10 a.m. at the North American Martyrs Parish- St. Mary's Church, 15 Maplewood Ave., East Hartford. Mary and the Andrews Family,
My sincere sympathy on Gil´s passing. He was a wonderful, kind man who will be missed by many. I knew Gil through his decades of bowling in our various bowling leagues. For many years, the same group sat at the same table for our bowling banquets where good conversation and laughter prevailed. I will always remember Gil´s smile, which always brought a smile to the faces of those around him. The bowlers of the East Hartford Primetimers send their sincere condolences to Mary and the Andrews family.
