Gilbert served in the United States Navy and also worked as a machinist at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
He was a member of New Haven Baptist Church.
Gilbert leaves to cherish fond memories: his wife, Tyischia Weaver Everett; daughter, Ikeira Weaver (Leotis Price, Jr.), and son, Kemon Everett, all of Murfreesboro, NC; his parents, Gene and Emma Everett of Murfreesboro, NC; sister, Kim Everett Gatling (Steven) of Atlanta, GA; bonus son, Daquan Casper of Murfreesboro, NC; mother-in-law, Gloria Majette of Murfreesboro, NC; three sisters in law, Portia Majette, Tonya Majette both of Murfreesboro, NC and Anneka Powell (Cadarious) of Harrellsville, NC; a host ofnieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
