Carroll Douglas "Doug" Lowe

AHOSKIE, NC - Carroll Douglas "Doug" Lowe, aged 88, passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2025, while visiting his daughter for the holidays, surrounded by loved ones at Watauga Medical Center in Boone, North Carolina.
Doug was born on March 5, 1937, in Hertford County, North Carolina, to Roy Daniel Lowe and Belle Chamblee Lowe. He spent numerous years as part-owner and operator of Ahoskie Tire Service, later continuing his career with North State Provision Co.
Doug was a devoted graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, fostering a deep love for his cherished UNC Tarheels. His enthusiasm for sports extended to watching his nephews grandchildren play ball, bringing him immense joy and pride. He was always up for a fishing trip whenever he had the chance. Doug dearly loved the tug on the line when catching a fish.
A devoted member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Doug's faith was a cornerstone of his life. Doug will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Kaye White Lowe; cherished son, Carroll Douglas Lowe, Jr.; sister, Doris Humphrey; and brothers Earl, Fred, Cecil, and Roy Lowe.
Doug leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter Lisa Brown and her husband Randy of Boone, NC; daughter-in-law Sandra Lowe; grandson Derek Brown and his wife Leslie of Lenoir, NC; granddaughter Brittany Story and her husband Austin of Vilas, NC; great-grandchildren Ryland and Hadley Brown of Lenoir, NC; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Family and friends will gather to pay their respects on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Ahoskie, NC. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, followed by a celebration of Doug's life at 2:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Greg Hurdle. Doug will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Gardens in Ahoskie, NC.
