MILLENNIUM, NC - Mary Frances Lassiter, affectionately known as Frances, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on September 28, 1938, in Hertford County, North Carolina, she spent her final days at Chowan River Nursing and Rehabilitation in
Edenton, NC.
Frances dedicated many years as a skilled seamstress with Mylecraft before embracing her role as a devoted homemaker. Her love for children was immeasurable, and she cherished nothing more than being a mother and grandmother. Known for her affectionate farewells, she would always send family off with a heartfelt "I Love You" at the door. Her passion for sewing and reading were testaments to her enriched and fulfilled life, always placing her family at the pinnacle of her priorities.
A lifetime devoted member of Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church, Frances embodied the virtues of a true Christian lady. Her steadfast faith and deep love for God defined her gentle spirit, and she will be remembered fondly by those who were blessed to know her. Often described with fondness, the phrase "Here comes little Frances. You hardly know she's around; she's the sweetest girl around," truly encapsulates her essence. Frances will be remembered for her unwavering faith, love for her family, and her sweet, gentle presence that touched all who knew her.
Frances was preceded in death by her loving parents, Labron and Ethel Lassiter, her beloved husband Ellis Lassiter, her dear son/grandson Brian Lassiter, her daughter-in-law, April Lassiter, and her sister Rosa Marie Lassiter. She is survived by her cherished children: Angela Harrison of Chesapeake, VA, Shelby Nixon of Edenton, William "Bill" Lassiter and his wife Lori of Aulander, and Steven Lassiter and his wife Nancy of Aulander. Her legacy continues through her treasured grandchildren, including Keith Lassiter and wife Lauren of Ahoskie, Sarah Roebuck and husband Josh of Plymouth, Melissa Nixon of Edenton, Nichole Lowe and husband Sean of Ahoskie, Noel Adams of Aulander, and great-grandchildren; Nick Adams, Cole Bradley, Spencer and Owen Stone, Kinley Lassiter, and Kaison Roebuck. Frances also leaves behind her siblings: Billy Ray Lassiter and wife Jeannette of Aulander, Rachel Rabeau and husband Tommy of Chesapeake, VA, James Lassiter and wife Elaine of Cocoa, FL, and Carolyn Barnette of Chesapeake, VA, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance at Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church in Aulander, NC, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM, followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Taylor Latham. Following the service, Frances will be laid to rest at Job Cemetery in Aulander.
