Gilbert (Beto) Gonzalez was reunited with his parents on September 2, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 31, 1959, to Manuel and Odilia Gonzalez. He was 66 years old.
Gilbert (Beto) graduated from Atlee Parr High School in 1977. After graduation, he worked for Pearl Drilling Co. alongside his dad. He was later employed with Price Drilling Co. He moved to Georgia, where he worked at Dobbins Air Force Base as a firefighter. He later transferred to Naval Air Station in Kingsville, where he continued his firefighter career.
Gilbert (Beto) was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel & Odilia R. Gonzalez, his Grandparents, several aunts & uncles, and his cousins.
Left to cherish his memories are his fiancée Pauline Galvan, her son Mario A. (Laura) Galvan, his children Vanessa (Louis) De La Sierra, Angelyn (Morgan) Decker, Alex (Brittany) Gonzalez, and Anna Marie Gonzalez (Kyle Mitchell), his siblings, Diana (Frank) Guerra, Adrian (Melva) Gonzalez, Edna (Elio) Ramirez, his grandchildren, Haylie and Louis Aaron De La Sierra IV, Braydin Deitz, Samuel and Skylyn Decker, Peyton and Weston Gonzalez, Avery, Emarie, & Colton Mitchell, and anticipating the arrival of his first great-grandchild, also several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
We would like to thank Priscilla Garza, the nurses and Staff at Santa Fe Home Health Care, the medical Team at MD Anderson, Laredo Medical Center, and all the nurses and Drs. who helped Gilbert (Beto) through his 7 year battle. We would also like to thank Father Juan Jose, from Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, along with the community, for their consistent prayers and visits.
Gilbert (Beto) touched so many lives in a kind and loving way. He left us lasting memories that will be with us every day. He will live forever in our hearts.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Hebbronville, Texas.
