Gilbert Lawrence Hamilton, age 87, life-long resident of Harford County, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Mr. Hamilton was the loving husband of Elizabeth Singleton Hamilton of Forest Hill for 53 years. He was the loving father to their only child, William Oliver Hamilton and his wife, Susan, and granddaughters, Joanna and Lydia, all of Willimantic, CT. Mr. Hamilton was born in Harford County, MD on August 19, 1922. He was the son of the late Clarence O. and Hazel L. Hamilton. He worked with his father on their farms in his young adult life and in 1996 retired after 50 years as a driver, and then a supervisor, of milk delivery trucks for the Dublin-Darlington Milk Cooperation. He loved working out of doors, enjoyed fishing, hunting, was an avid gardener, and enjoyed sharing the "fruits of the harvest" with his beloved friends and cronies. Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by his only brother, Evans C. Hamilton. He is survived by three sisters, Lucy V. Monninger of Factoryville, PA, Frances C. Carter of Nottingham, PA, and Ann H. Monninger of Street, MD. In addition, nine nieces and nephews, and 11 great-nieces and nephews of whom he was very proud. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mr. Hamilton's church, Mt. Tabor United Methodist. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Bonnie McCubbin and Rev. Harold L. Hubble. Serving as pallbearers for their friend will be, John McMillan, William McMillan, Paul Hammons, David Webb, Nicholas Smith, and Randy Peters.
