Gilbert "Cotton" Michulka, born on September 28, 1944, in East Bernard, Texas, to the late John Michulka and Hattie Pyka Michulka. He passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in a Wharton nursing home.
Cotton was a true local, spending his life in the place he loved most, East Bernard, where he will be missed by all who knew him. He was a graduate of East Bernard High School.
Cotton was a down-to-earth guy who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He had a passion for sports—especially football and college basketball—and could always be found cheering for his favorite teams. In his younger days, he also had a love for hunting, finding joy in the great outdoors.
Cotton worked as an air conditioning tech, where he gained the respect and friendship of many over the years. He was known for his hardworking nature and easygoing spirit.
He leaves behind his brother Jimmy Michulka and wife, Jennifer of Buna, TX, along with cousins, Robert and Patricia Michulka and Bennie Michulka of East Bernard, TX, nephew Jon Michulka, and niece Laura Penney, all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts.
A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date at Holy Cross Catholic Church.Rest in peace, Cotton. You’ll always be remembered for your kindness, your laughter, and your love of life.
