Dr. Gilbert Reid, DDS, aka "Dr. Gil", aka "Top of the Hill Gil", passed away peacefully on February 22, 2023. Gil was born in Milwaukee on December 18, 1937 to parents Dr Leslie and Eleanor Reid. He graduated from Pulaski High School in 1954. He went on to Marquette University and then Marquette Dental School. Upon graduation, he joined the Navy as a dentist and was stationed at Camp Pendleton where he was a Lieutenant. After his time served, he joined his father's dental practice in Milwaukee where they became known as Dr Reid and Dr Gil caring for several generations of families.
Gil lived life to the fullest. He was a master gardener, loved Badger football, downhill skiing in his younger years, traveling all over but specifically to Naples, Fl in the spring and a good time which included his martinis with green olives. He was a humble and thoughtful man. He is known for his attention to detail, straight forward way of saying things, sarcasm and one liners often said at the right time.
He is survived by his four children, Randy (Bernie) Reid, Penny Allen, Brad (Lisa) Reid and Liz (Joe) Benzschawel, two daughters through marriage Gayle (Grundmann) Coleman, Gwen (Dan) Grundmann Armbrust, loving sister Barbara (Georgeann) Reid, along with 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Preceding him in death, his parents, Leslie and Eleanor Reid, his first wife Bonnie (nee Carter), son-in-law Bob, and his soul mate, love of his life and wife of 33 years Jalaine (nee Juell/Grundmann).
Many thanks to Reena Senior Living in Fort Atkinson WI and Rainbow Hospice for the love, care and compassion they showed Gil and his family during this time. They have become a second family and will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Marquette Dental School, Reena Senior Living or Rainbow Hospice in Fort Atkinson in his name.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday March 2, at Harder Funeral Home at 1:00 PM. Visitation for family and friends from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM, Committal to follow the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
