Gilbert "Wayne" Rode, 83, of Princeton, entered eternity on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at RiverOaks Health Campus. He was born June 21, 1942 in Evansville to the late Gilbert John Rode and Chelistene Ann (Barton) Rode. He was a 1960 graduate of Mt. Olympus High School and was a farmer his entire life. He was the founding owner and operator of G.J. Rode and Son's Construction. Wayne was a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, where he served and attended until his health failed. He enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, traveling, and spending time at Lake Barkley. He also cherished time spent with his family, especially attending his grandchildren's activities.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon (Jones) Rode of Princeton; son, Jeff (Kelly) Rode; daughter, Angie (Kevin) Gwin; grandchildren, Mallory (Luke) Humphrey, Mason (Jaelyn) Rode, Connor Gwin, and Caiden Gwin; great-grandchildren, Daisy Rode, Myles Rode, and Seraphina Humphrey; brother, David (Earline) Rode; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded by his parents and great-granddaughter, Anna Beth Humphrey.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, officiated by Pastor Donnie Truelock. Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch. Visiting hours will be held from 12:00 PM until the time of service, Sunday at the funeral home.
