Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Gilbert A. Schleiden Sr., and Mary (Schneider) Schleiden, Bert resided in Philadelphia until 1973 when he moved to Ottsville, PA. He was a retired electrician of IBEW Local 98. He was a fan of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was the beloved husband of 61 years to Joan (Gounley) Schleiden; devoted father of Sharon Souder, Debra Schleiden and Kenneth Schleiden (Terry); dearest brother of Mary Garris (James), Jim Schleiden (Susan), Ruth Bonz (late Ron) and Frank Schleiden (Trish); cherished grandfather of Sarah, Danielle, Kyle, Jeffrey, Wesley and Julia; loving uncle and grand uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company at 5064 Stump Rd, Plumsteadville, PA 18949, would be appreciated.
