Gilbert Seus Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kloecker-Bailey Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. - Erie on Aug. 17, 2022.
Gilbert S. Seus, Jr., age 73, formerly of Lawrence Park, PA. and lived in Vero Beach, FL., passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022. He was born on August 14, 1948, son of the late Gilbert S. Seus Sr. and Winifred Hewitt Seus.
He lived a life full of love and activities. At an early age, he helped his parents run their ice cream stores, and enjoyed playing sports in high school. The skills that he learned allowed him to play football at the University of Findlay while earning a Bachelors Degree in Education which would later lead to a Masters Degree in School Administration from Xavier University. He carried his love of football throughout his life especially for his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.
During his working years, he was a Teacher and Coach at Kenston High School in Chagrin Falls, OH., and later moved to Miami Trace School District, in Washington Court House, Ohio where he was a Teacher, Coach, Assistant Principal and Assistant Superintendent. As a coach, he helped youth advance their skills in Track and Field, Football and Wrestling. His favorite job was the Assistant Principal of Miami Trace High School.
Working within the education system allowed him to retire early, and his new focus became what is most meaningful in life - Family. His family was a mainstay in his life, and he made it a point to get together as often as possible. He documented his family genealogy in two books that he authored, even traveling to Dorfprozelten, Germany to discover where his ancestors originated. He would attend as many of his grandkids' events as possible, and spend annual vacations with his daughters' families. His family enjoyed his love, support and teasing. Teasing the grandkids was expected, and as the grandkids got older, he realized that he was outnumbered through the skills that he had instilled on them.
He achieved the level of Associate Grand Chaplain within the Masonic Lodge and is a member of Bloomingburg Chapter #449. He also loved to golf, hunt, work on home improvement projects, and travel. While golfing, he played for pizzas and dollars, until his competitors started to beat him. During his hunting adventures, he worked to "fill the freezer" with his hunting bounty. He always wanted to help his daughters on home improvement projects to better their homes, and often gave out "goods" on the outcomes of the effort and has even given out an "excellent" even though he would refute that fact.
His travel adventures, included taking cruises and RV'ing. He spent the last several years with his loving friend and companion, Stephanie Bearce Cull, and their dogs, Jake & Gracie. During this time, he was his happiest and they explored the United States and Canada for close to a year in their RV. They have spent the last few years making a summer home in Maine to get away and host future family events.
He is survived by his children Christine Seus Prevesk (Harry Morris) and Tracey Seus Neff (Jared Neff). His grandchildren Stephen Ritter, Matthew Prevesk, Ashley Neff, Katelyn Prevesk, and Ryan Neff. His brother, Nevin Seus (Karen Seus) of Bradenton, FL and their children. His loving friend and companion, Stephanie Bearce Cull and numerous cousins.

I have had the privilege of calling Gil my friend for the last 41 years. Everyone needs a friend or mentor to "tell you what you needed to hear, not what you wanted to hear." Gil was that friend and mentor for me, and I am forever grateful. What I know for sure is, he has found a golf course and someone to bet a pizza with, and he has that darn Ping putter in the bag that he has had for 40 years, making all those one puts to save par!
I will miss you, my friend.
