Gilbert B. Trainer was called home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 26, 2025. He was 79 years old. He is survived by his two daughters, Jeanette (husband Michael) and Cynthia; one brother, William Trainer; nephew, Scott Trainer (wife Jackie); nieces, Jackie Wickenheiser (husband Dave) and Jamie Trainer; grandson, Dustin Bailes (wife Taylor); granddaughter, Taylor Baez (husband Manuel); and great-grandchildren, Juliann, Josiah and Josie. He is also survived by many, many beloved friends who were like family to him.

Gil was born and raised in South Central Pennsylvania (Greencastle) by Alexander Alfred and Pearl Mary Trainer. He served for the U.S. Army in the late 1960's and was medically discharged due to an accident. He worked in Washington D.C. with the Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration for 33 years in Contracts Procurement. He retired in 1996 to follow his grandson to live in Oklahoma.

Gil loved his family and friends fiercely. He loved the Lord and was involved with Epiphany Lutheran Church (VA) and Trinity Lutheran (OK) his entire life. He loved to sing. He sang in the church choirs, in the Woodbridge Community Choir and for many requested weddings and funerals. He loved spending time with his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a passion for the OKC Thunder Basketball team like no other. He also followed the Miami Dolphins and the OSU Cowboys.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.

There will be a Celebration of Life held by the family at another time to be determined.
