Obituary published on Legacy.com by J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel - Bowling Green on May 24, 2023.
Giles Kevin Cunningham's untimely departure on Sunday, May 21, 2023, near Barren River Lake, marked the end of a life lived passionately. Giles was born on June 13,2000 in
Bowling Green, KY to Kevin Cunningham and Mary Beth Murley. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Leon Murley and paternal grandparents, Jimmy and Brenda Cunningham.
Giles found comfort in his hobbies of building and operating his own business, and it was during these endeavors that he tragically passed. Giles was an extraordinary young man, radiating an infectious enthusiasm that lit up every room he entered. His zest for life and his cherished friendships were nothing short of remarkable. His social circle was vast and his genuine desire to help others and build connections transcended the boundaries of age. He served as a mentor to children and at the young age of 14 years old, he exhibited expertise and maturity well beyond his years when he umpired for Little League games-an experience that laid the foundation for his future service-oriented path.
Following his graduation from Bowling Green High School in 2018, where he wholeheartedly engaged in baseball, golf, lacrosse, and the fishing team, Giles embarked on a career in mortgage banking. However, it didn't take long for him to realize that his true calling lay in construction and management. After honing his skills at a local company, R Squared, he ultimately took the leap to establish his own business.
Giles' compassionate nature shone through in every aspect of his life, extending his helping hand wherever it was needed. Most recently, he exemplified this selflessness during the devastating tornadoes that ravaged Bowling Green in December 2021, utilizing his equipment to clear debris and aid his community. Some of those he helped during this dark time said he was "one of those angels" sent by God to carry out miracles here on earth.
In his free time, Giles found comfort in the great outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, and simply being immersed in nature or the serenity of the lake.
Giles leaves behind a cherished circle of loved ones who will forever hold him in their hearts. He is survived by his parents, Kevin Cunningham and Beth Murley (Dave Loveland), his brother, Carter, and his sister, Mary Ellis, his maternal grandmother, Linda Murley (Nana), and paternal grandmother, Mary Cunningham. His uncle, Brian Murley (Cindy), two aunts, Carol Murley and Jan Cunningham, many cousins and many, many friends. Giles also leaves behind his girlfriend, Madeline Rich, or "the one" as he called her from the moment they met.
Giles Kevin Cunningham's departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him. His compassion, and his unwavering dedication to serving others were traits that set him apart. As we bid farewell to this remarkable soul, we hold onto the memories of his vibrant spirit and the lasting impact he made on all those fortunate enough to have crossed his path.
Arrangements have been entrusted to J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
