Obituary published on Legacy.com by Craddock Funeral Home from Nov. 27 to Nov. 29, 2025.
Gina Diann (Summers) Berger, beloved wife of almost 42 years to Ross Berger, was born in Ada, Oklahoma on 8/30/62 to Evert Eugene and Phyllis Odetta (Miller) Summers, and went to be with her Savior on 11-26-2025. Her sister Sherry joined the family in 1965 and Cathy in 1967. She surrendered her life to Jesus at 8 years old and was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church in Pauls Valley. She attended Pauls Valley schools, graduating in 1980. She played in band for 4 years and was in drama and choir, and active in her church youth group. She loved going to her family farm with her sisters and cousins and spent many happy days there.
She attended East Central University in Ada, OK, earning a degree in Special Education. She was active in the Baptist Student Union, where she sang with the Disciples group and went on summer missions with a singing team to South Dakota, where they performed at Mount Rushmore. While at ECU she met Ross Berger, who finally persuaded her to settle for him, and they were married 3/10/84. After graduation she began her teaching career as a Special Education Teacher at the Enid State School. She worked with Special Needs children, loving, advocating for, and teaching them for 40 years at Enid and Pauls Valley State Schools in Oklahoma, Seagoville in Texas, Marietta, Ardmore & Plainview Schools in Oklahoma. She taught High School Special Ed for most of her career, moving to an Elementary position at Plainview. She impacted the lives of many children, families and co-workers throughout her career, always showing the love of Jesus. She also was proud of her work with OEA, partnering with Plainview Schools to support her fellow teachers. She was a talented singer and musician, at times singing with her church choirs, and recently, with the Oklahoma Baptist Singing Church Women.
Gina and Ross had two sons, Jeff & Daniel, who she delighted in loving. She spent many years involved in their band, drama, speech, Scouts, and Church activities. She mothered many of their friends and classmates over the years. She was especially proud of the men they became and the daughters-in-law, Sarah & Ashley, they brought to the family. One of her most favorites roles was being RaRa to her 6 grandchildren and spoiling them every chance she got. She spent many evenings talking and teasing with them and their parents on the phone when she could not be with them.
Gina was very close with her sisters Sherry & Cathy, with whom she loved to visit and go on adventures. She also enjoyed spending time with her Sassy Sister and fellow teachers Patty Lee, deceased, and Mandy Roberts.
Gina was a faithful member of her local church all her life. She loved her Lord and served Him at every church she attended through the years. As a singer, choir member, Special Needs Sunday School teacher, Prayer Team member, Missions meal assistant, Falls Creek cook, Super Summer sponsor, and so much more.
Gina was preceded in death by her parents, Gene & Phyllis Summers, her parents-in-law Earl & Norma Berger, two grandchildren, Aunt Patricia Bloomer, Uncles Joe Bloomer, Joe Summers, Mack Summers, brother-in law Tony Berger & cousin Anita Bolin (Summers).
She is survived by husband Ross Berger, son Jeff Berger & wife Sarah & their children Isaac, Lillian & Morgan, son Daniel Berger & wife Ashley & children Grayson, Gavin and Lainey. Sisters Sherry Summers & Cathy Summers. Aunts Roberta Summers & Lavita Summers. Cousins Audry Newport & husband Bobby, Gaylon Summers & Garland Summers, and Anita's husband Frankie. She is also survived by a host of other family, church & school friends who she loved dearly and often visited with by phone in the evenings.
Thanks to all who have reached out with words of love and support. Our prayers are with your hearts. She would wish above all else that you would know the peace she had in Jesus. We look forward to her hugs and welcomes when we leave this life and go to worship our Lord eternally with her.
