Gina Carey Obituary
Throughout her life, Gina dedicated herself to spreading laughter and comfort to everyone she knew. She found joy in her work, staying active, and cherishing the time spent with her friends and family. Her greatest treasure was being a mother to her two children, Andrew DeCapria (41, with Jessica DeCapria) and Nicolas Carey (26). Gina was affectionately known as "Aunt Ninny" to many of her nieces and nephews, a playful, crazy, and loving aunt. She was married to her loving husband, Michael Carey, for 36 wonderful years. She was preceded in death by her remarkable parents, Franklin Dean and Roberta Faith DeCapria, and her brother, Dean DeCapria.
Gina is survived by her siblings, Michael DeCapria (Michele), Roberta Huskey (Michael), Jaymie West (David), and her numerous nieces and nephews. She was also deeply loved by her two cherished dogs, Cooper and Finley.
Gina's career at Piedmont Medical Center, where she served as a longtime employee in the radiology department, as Director of Imaging. Her contributions touched the lives of countless coworkers, patients, and friends, leaving behind a legacy of lifelong friendships.
Those who knew Gina knew that she was a devoted friend, always putting others before herself. Although she was taken away from us too soon, her spirit will forever remain in our lives and hearts as our beloved angel.
A celebration of Gina's life will take place at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, located at 2133 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732 on March 20, 2026, at 4:00 PM. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 PM to 3:45 PM at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel.

It´s hard to put into words what Gina meant as a Florida neighbor and friend. She had a way of making everyone feel at home the second you met her. So many great memories-game nights, hot tub laughs, and the time I was working on my roof while her husband Mike (hot tub) and Steve (macgyver) thought it was a good idea to shoot fireworks in my direction. That was Gina´s world-fun, laughter, and unforgettable moments. She will be missed more than words can say. With love from Alaska red doors RIP Gina

Sometimes in life there are things you just Don't want to believe and this is one of those times, And I'm heartbroken.Gina started off as a Dear Friends Wife,And ended up being more like a sister to me.She welcomed me to stay with them when I was down on my luck not once but Twice,And doing That for a Nut like Me just shows what an Amazing person she was.Not Once ever made me feel unwelcome and Always treated me as one of the family.I Always said that Gina was an Angel on Earth and now she's one in Heaven.Artie Loves you Gina and will Miss You Terribly! Rest in Peace my Angel.

Gina will always be a ray of sunshine shining down from heaven! She was a beloved co-worker and friend. I worked with her at Piedmont. It was her loving heart, string work ethic, honesty and strong leadership skills that led me to promote her to be the Director of Imaging - one of the best decisions I ever made.
When I had both of my boys at Piedmont, she was there. She gave them her son´s precious Optimus Prime and Darth Vader masks that were collector items for sure. She always led with Love! My boys cherished those masks and every time I saw the masks, I thought of Gina´s sharing heart and thoughtfulness to give such a special gift to my Reid and Cole. I attached a photo of Cole wearing the Darth Vader mask from her loving gift that brought them so much joy playing for hours!
I have so many other amazing memories of Gina. Always reliable, thoughtful and kind. A great wife, mother, co-worker, colleague and friend! She lived her passion - helping others - in her work every day. Gone too soon. She will be missed! I am heartbroken. May her angel wings fly high. With love, Claudia Douglass
