Gina Michele Fugate, beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Overland Park, Kansas, on September 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She is lovingly survived by her husband and best friend, Gabe Fugate; her two cherished daughters who loved her endlessly, Taylor and Payton; as well as her parents, Virginia and Dennis. She was born on June 9, 1968, in St. Louis, Missouri.
To know Gina was to know warmth, kindness, and a heart that overflowed with love. Her family was the center of her world and she was the heart of her home — a devoted wife, an extraordinary mother, and a true friend to all who were lucky enough to cross her path.
Gina had a passion for cooking, and every meal she prepared was an act of love. Whether hosting a holiday, preparing a family dinner, or tailgating for her beloved Kansas City Chiefs, Gina made sure everyone felt welcome, full, and cared for. Football Sundays were sacred in her home, and no game day was complete without her homemade spread and infectious team spirit.
Her lake home was her sanctuary — a place where she found peace, joy, and connection with her dearest friends. Time spent by the water, laughing and relaxing, brought her the most peace.
Earlier in her life, Gina built a successful career in the graphic arts industry. She then transitioned into her proudest and most fulfilling role as a homemaker, where she poured her heart into, and excelled at, raising her daughters and creating a loving, vibrant home. She approached motherhood with intention, joy, and unwavering devotion. Holidays, birthdays, and every little milestone were made magical by Gina's thoughtful touch. She was truly the light and life of her family.
Gina’s presence was a blessing to all who knew her. The mark of love that she left, lives on in the hearts of those she leaves behind, and her memory will continue to inspire kindness, strength, and love.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in knowing that Gina is now in the loving arms of the Lord. Heaven absolutely shines a little brighter with her there.
Visitation will be from 1-2:00pm on Saturday, October 25th followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00pm at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home.
