Jennifer Michelle Umbarger, 53, of Overland Park, passed away on November 20, 2025 after a courageous battle against breast cancer. She was born on January 5, 1972 in Hamburg, Iowa to Curt and Judy (Amthor) Crain.
After graduating from Hamburg High School, Jeni followed her pursuit of higher education at Northwest Missouri State University. After establishing her career with roles in advertising in both Kansas City and Chicago, she found her true calling as a devoted stay-at-home mom. For over 20 years, Jeni fully embraced her role in caring for her family, devoting herself to raising her children and nurturing a loving home.
As her children grew, Jeni transitioned back into the professional world, working part-time as an administrator for Drive 5 basketball and Kruse Elite Basketball. Despite her professional endeavors, her greatest joy remained her family, whom she continued to prioritize above all else.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ken Umbarger, and their three children: son Reece Umbarger, daughter Regan Ferguson and her husband Danny, and son Reed Umbarger, her parents Curt Crain and Judy Crain, her brother Clint Crain and family, and her sister Jana Von Seggern and family.
The family will receive guests for a visitation on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Penwell Gabel’s Olathe Chapel. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Life.Church Overland Park.
Jeni found great comfort in animal therapy, especially being around, caring for, and riding horses. In lieu of flowers, Jeni’s wish was for donations to https://www.spiritwind.live/jeni-umbarger-memorial-fund or https://www.livingliferanch.org/ so that others may have the same opportunity.
