Arlington, Texas - In Memoriam.
William J. Umbarger, affectionately known as Billy Joe, passed away on July 29, 2025, in Arlington, Texas, at the age of 65 due to health complications. Born on December 24, 1959, in Dover, Delaware, he was the beloved son of John Dale Umbarger Sr. and the late Patricia Alice Miller. Billy Joe is preceded in death by his mother, brother John Dale Umbarger Jr., and life partner Teresa Brooks. He is survived by his father, John Dale Umbarger Sr. (and his wife Judy), siblings Blynda Coe (Louis), Cathy Turner (Michael), and Joseph Sgambelluri (Michele), along with many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. A proud graduate of Western Hills High School in 1979, Billy Joe spent his career in the food service industry before becoming disabled. Known for his kindness, humor, and love for animals, he enjoyed watching movies, making paper napkin roses, and celebrating holidays with family over a Dr. Pepper and a cigarette. A funeral service will be held on August 9, 2025, at The Church at Benbrook.
