Gina Renae (Hayes) Sherrell, a cherished member of the Coffeyville, Kansas community, passed away unexpectedly at Ascension Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, at the age of 60.
Born on September 14, 1964, in Coffeyville, Gina was the daughter of Alvin Gene Hayes and Ella Jean French. She was a proud graduate of Field Kindley Memorial High School and furthered her education by earning an associate's degree from Coffeyville Community College. Gina dedicated many years of her career to serving as a phlebotomist at CRMC and Coffeyville Doctors Clinic, where she made a positive impact on the lives of her patients. Additionally, she owner-operator of G & J Bait Shop, where she created lasting memories.
Gina's greatest joys were her family and her role as a loving mother and grandmother. She recently devoted herself to caring for her five beloved grandchildren, exemplifying her nurturing spirit and deep love for her family. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening and just simply being outdoors. She found joy in helping others, and raising all types of animals. She was a Daddy's girl and followed his footsteps by never meeting a stranger.
She is survived by her daughters, Megan Ransom and Alexis Hayes; stepdaughters Shonae Jamiez, Shanice Ransom and Shirley Ransom, her brother, Billy Hammonds; and her eight grandchildren, Ayden Sales, Elliana Hayes, Joslyn Shobe, Matthew Ransom, Emily Ransom, Noel Ransom, Gabriel Gutierrez. who will carry on her legacy of love and kindness.
A memorial service to honor Gina's life is scheduled for Friday, May 30, 2025, at 1pm at the Veterans Patio at Fairview Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to leave online messages of condolence or share cherished memories by visiting her obituary page at www.fordwulfbrunschapel.com.
Gina will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
