Marie Elaine Sales of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma passed away unexpectantly on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 in Coffeyville, Kansas at the age of 69.
Marie was born on February 16, 1956 in Coffeyville, Kansas to William F. and Pauline M. (Schultz) O'Connell. Maire was the youngest of five children, her siblings who were waiting at home to meet their baby sister were brothers Mike, Pat, sisters Diana and Debbie.
Marie as well as her siblings grew up in Coffeyville where she attended school and graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School.
Marie married Delwood Curtis A. Sales, and they had one child Delwood Curtis A. Sales II. Unfortunately, Delwood senior preceded her in death on September 17, 1992.
Marie worked at Sterling's grill out of high school and then she was employed at Halliburton as a welder until it closed. She then worked at the Smoke Shop's in South Coffeyville and Coffeyville. The last eleven years of her employment were spent at K&S Oil where she knew all of the regulars up to her retirement.
When Marie wasn't at work, she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her son and grandson Aiden and going to the Casino.
Marie leaves behind her son Delwood Curtis A. Sales II, grandson Aiden Sales, brothers Mike "Scoop" O'Connell, Pat O'Connell, sister Diana Evenson, step-sister Becky Tesh, brother-in-law Jeff McDonald, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delwood, her dad William F. O'Connell, her mother Pauline M. (Schultz) Knisley, and sister Debbie McDonald.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 10:30 am at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 21 from 5 to 7pm also at the chapel. Following cremation Marie will be laid to rest with her husband Delwood in Fairview Cemetery.
