Ginger Miller Obituary

On January 17, 1956, in Waco, Texas, the world welcomed a loving, caring, compassionate, and genuine soul, Ginger Dianne (Watson) Miller. Ginger spent her nurturing life in Longview, Texas, with her beloved husband, Gary Lynn Miller. A graduate of University High School in Waco, Ginger's creativity and passion for design led her to a fulfilling career as the owner, operator, and designer at Creative Interiors, where she enjoyed decorating and managing the family business.
Ginger's spirituality was deeply rooted in her community. She began her faith journey at Mobberly Baptist Church and later became an integral part of Woodland Hills Baptist Church. Her devotion extended to her love for music, serving joyfully in the choir and on praise teams, and traveling with Classic Praise.
Ginger loved the sights and sounds that surrounded her. She was one who looked up, leaned in, and found a melody in every moment. She greeted her loved ones with a sparkle of merriment and a touch of grace. With a smile on her face, the warmth of her hand, and the gentleness of her voice, she welcomed others into her radiant presence. Her embrace was soft, and her tone was full of delight.
Ginger had a God-given gift of hospitality - a deep-seated and generous spirit that extended to family, friends, and strangers alike. Her love for Jesus flowed through her words and even to her fingertips. She was truly a breath of fresh air.
Ginger loved singing in ensembles and choirs. Her songs and hymns would burst forth in melody and devotion to her Savior and King. One song sung by many voices stands as a testament to the peace and harmony Ginger lived out each day. The tune of her heart made a melody of God's grace.
Ginger often said, "Oh my soul," in response to unexpected circumstances - a phrase that perfectly captured her spirit. She loved God and others with all her mind, all her heart, and all her soul. As Psalm 42:7 says, "Deep calls to deep." From the depths of her soul, she loved - and "Oh my soul" reflected just how boundless that love was.
Many hymns sing of the God who tarries, and Ginger lived her life in step with His rhythm - intentional and unhurried. Her hugs lingered. Her delight in a garden bursting with vibrant color would cause her to linger there, captivated by God's creation and His presence. And so, those who knew her found themselves captivated by hers.
"And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known."
- In the Garden
"Come my Lord, no longer tarry,
Take my ransomed soul away.
Send Thine angels now to carry
Me to realms of endless days"
-Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing
Her life was rich with connections, cherishing every moment spent with family and friends. Ginger held a special bond with friends like Freda Nix, who were as close as family to her. Her relationships were mirrors of her heart, full of warmth and unwavering bond.
Ginger is survived by her cherished family, including her daughter Allison Gillentine and her husband Clay of Brenham, her stepson, Timothy Paul Miller of Trinidad, and her grandson, Holton Gillentine of Brenham.
Preceding her in passing were her parents, Otis and Virginia Watson, and her sister, Darlene Grimes, whose memories and love continue to inspire those who knew them.
In honor of Ginger's compassionate spirit, memorial contributions are welcomed at the East Texas Alzheimer's Alliance. Donations may be made through the following link, https://etxalz.org/get-involved/gifts-memorials-and-honorariums/. Her legacy of kindness, creativity, and dedication to faith and family will resonate deeply within the hearts of those she touched.
A celebration of Ginger's beautiful life will be held at 11 AM Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Woodland Hills Baptist Church with Bro. Charles Hunt officiating. Music will be presented by Perkins Partnership Ministries "Classic Praise." The family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM prior to the service. Honoring her requests, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Horn Family Funeral Home and Cremations.
