Giovanni married Angela Moschetta on April 12th, 1959 and together they sacrificed, struggled and laid a strong foundation for their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to thrive.
Giovanni's hard-work, sacrifices, and devotion for his family will be forever cherished in the lives of his children, Vincent & Rose Garofalo, Rose Giragosian, Antoinette & Mario Ambroselli; grandchildren, Michaela Giragosian Anderson & Robert Anderson, Leonora Giragosian Diaferia & Anthony Diaferia, Mario Giragosian & Lauren Pizzolla Giragosian, Cristina Ambroselli & Andrew Olesh, Bridgette Garofalo Scagnelli & Daniel Scagnelli, Giovanni Garofalo & Zoe Margulies Garofalo, Serena Ambroselli, Gianni Giragosian, Morrígan Garofalo Alvizuri; great-grandchildren, beloved Lola Rose Anoushig Anderson, Aurelio Olesh, Lucy Bella Almast Anderson, Brinley Rose Scagnelli, Shane Richard Scagnelli, Benedetto Olesh, Luna Stella Aleene Anderson, Daniel Michael Scagnelli, River Sophia Garofalo, Luca John Bruce Anderson, Michael Armen Diaferia, and Anaïs Linda Giragosian.
Nonno's house will never be the same without him, but his love will forever surround his family. His family is at peace knowing he is reunited with his wife of 61 years, Angela, and his first great-grandchild, Lola Rose. Together they are growing vegetable gardens, telling stories and watching down upon their family together with Giovanni's beloved parents, Vincenzo & Rosa, and his brothers, Sabatino and Michele Garofalo.
Visitation hours are to be held at Drago Funeral Home & Cremation from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024. Mass Service will be held at St. Joseph's Parish (Astoria) on Wednesday, July 31st, 2024. Following the service, the burial will take place at St. Michael's Cemetery (Astoria).
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Make-A-Wish or The Jimmy Fund in efforts to help children affected by cancer as his great-granddaughter, Lola Rose, was.
