Giuseppe “Joe” Gianni, age 79, of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, passed away on December 5, 2025. Born in 1946 in Tusa, Messina, Sicily, Joe immigrated to the United States in 1972 in pursuit of new opportunities. He built that life with determination, love, and an unshakable work ethic.

Joe married the love of his life, Patricia Gianni, and together they shared 46 beautiful years. They raised their family in Glenn Dale, Maryland, where Joe established a successful remodeling business. Known for his skill and ingenuity, Joe could fix just about anything placed in front of him.

Before coming to America, Joe served proudly in the Italian Armed Forces. In his retirement, he and Patricia settled in Shepherdstown, where he continued to enjoy the simple pleasures that brought him joy.

Joe was happiest surrounded by family, food, and laughter. He was an extraordinary cook whose meals were legendary—especially his homemade spaghetti sauce. He was a gracious host with a genuine heart, and he made sure no one ever left his home hungry. He loved gardening, playing cards, and cheering on the Orioles and the Redskins.

Above all, Joe cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia; his children Joanna Murphy and her husband Corey, and their children Soirse and Phoenix; Maureen Morrone and her husband Dominick, and their son Nico; Christina (Nina) Ganey and her husband Alan, and their daughters Gemma and Giuliana; and Giuseppe (Joe) Gianni and his wife Amy, and their son Giuseppe Jr (Joey). He is also preceded in death by his beloved daughter Ashleah Gianni (2020).

Joe is further survived by his brother Giovanni Gianni and his wife Rosina, and their sons Carmelo, Antonio, and Marco; as well as his sister Rosella (Lella) Furzi, her husband Orfeo, and their children Andrea, Simone, and Linda.

Joe will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the deep love he had for those around him. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and in the family who adored him. He will be profoundly missed.

A service will be held on Thursday, 12/11 at 11am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Edgewater, MD.
