Giuseppe Tritta

Giuseppe Tritta, 83, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026, at St. Joseph's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born March 5, 1943, in Rutigliano, Italy, he was the son of Leonardo and Porzia Tritta. Giuseppe later made his home in Syracuse, where he was known as a respected contractor, painter, and property owner.
Affectionately known as "Nonno" and the "Mayor of Danforth Street," he was a beloved presence in his neighborhood. Giuseppe enjoyed simple pleasures including his daily espresso, long walks, thrifting, and caring for his garden. A devoted man of faith, he was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church and enjoyed attending Mass and the church's dinner dances with his beloved wife, Lucia.
Giuseppe treasured time with his family, creating special memories on trips to New York City with his daughter Porzia and grandsons, David and Joey, and enjoying casino trips with his son Filippo and son-in-law David. He also cherished conversations and stories shared with his son Lenny.
Giuseppe was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Giovanni; and his nephew, Lenny.
Giuseppe is survived by his beautiful and loving wife of 59 years, Lucia Tritta; children, Porzia (David) Lalonde, Filippo Tritta, and Lenny (Tricia)Tritta; two brothers, Pasquale and Corrado Tritta; sister, Victoria; grandsons, David (Melynda Marie) Lalonde, Joseph (Victoria Inez), and Jonathan (Emily); great-granddaughter, Violet; great-grandson, Parker; his Godson, Mike Lucenti; adopted children, Norge and June; his dog, Lucia; several nephews, nieces, cousins; special thanks to his nurse, Kristina Chestnut.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 19th, from 12 PM to 2 PM at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash Street, Syracuse. A funeral Mass to honor Giuseppe's life will follow at 2PM. Burial will be private. FARONE & SON Inc Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
